Yahoo! Weather Module for Joomla 2.5 and 3.0

Preview Download 2.5 3.0+

We have received many requests for a free weather module that is compatible with Joomla 2.5 and Joomla 3.0 version. Finally here is the module that use jQuery and Yahoo Weather API to display the weather in one or more locations. The module is simple to use, however  I will explain the configuration a little bit.

The above picture is a screenshot of the module parameters. As you can see, there are many options, but the most important are the location codes. The modules allows you to choose from two types of location codes: weather.com and weather.yahoo.com

It is important to know, that these two services, use different codes, you will have to select from module parameters, which one you want to use. Now you have to find the city code. Will explain how to do it:

How to find city codes?

1. Weather.com Service

Visit this site www.Weather.com and search for a city. Let’s say we search for London using the form that looks like the following image:

The URL of the city page will look like this:

http://www.weather.com/weather/right-now/UKXX0085:1

The bold text is the city code.

2. Yahoo.com Service

Visit www.Weather.Yahoo.com and search for a ZIP code or for a city name. The search input looks like this:

The search result URL  for London will look like this:

http://weather.yahoo.com/united-kingdom/england/london-44418/

The bold text is the city code.

Use which service you prefer, there should be no difference in displaying the weather. If you find any bug or want to report an issue regarding this module, please use the commenting form.

Hy,

the weather.com city code don’t show up on the desired location in the frontend. Yahoo city code is working fine.

Greetings

At this point other language than English is not available for this module.

Hello,

I just tried this extension on Joomla! 3.64 on a PC.
I use iSonic template – responsive and Joompla! 3x dedicated.
I place Weather in almost every possible position available in the template.
It does not appear at all in Frontend.
No matter Enable or Disable is the jQuery, after the “Save” button is applied, the following error message appears:

Warning: SimpleXMLElement::xpath(): Invalid predicate in /home/uchaeyuq/public_html/libraries/joomla/form/form.php on line 1543

Warning: SimpleXMLElement::xpath(): xmlXPathEval: evaluation failed in /home/uchaeyuq/public_html/libraries/joomla/form/form.php on line 1543
